I'd like to commend Robert for his invaluable book Simplified Reef Keeping. Robert's straightforward approach belies a wealth of knowledge and experience and gives reefkeepers of all experience levels the information needed to create and maintain a successful reef tank. Robert has written in a personal, engaging style, and even though he has discarded the commonly-used dry, academic tone, there is no mistaking his authority in the field. By sharing his personal experiences, the author has accelerated the reader's learning curve.
Instead of theoretical discussions, he has written with an eye towards practical application. His book includes sections pertaining to common mistakes, estimated time and dollar costs, and do-it-yourself (DIY) projects. The 50+ pages of DIY projects alone are worth the relatively-low book price, and combined with the priceless information contained throughout, the book is an absolute bargain. I cannot recommend this book highly enough for anyone who maintains, or is contemplating maintaining, a reef aquarium.
