The construction
FILTRATION:The spray bars
are each fed from individual MAGNUM 350's, with only
floss filters, ( not R.M.'s recommendation)
although their changed with each water change.
The return water is taken from each end by way of a homemade surface skimmer
( not fully perfected) Hanging on the back is a CPR skimmer
which runs full time.
LIGHTING: (4) 110 watt VHO's
& ICECAP BALLAST -- 2 Actinic & 2 Actinic blue.
10 hours/day -- 4.89 watts/gal.
BASE: Approximately 1/2" of
ARAGONITE SAND -- for the purpose of brightening
up the lower part of the tank and
covering the unfinished look of the bottom of
the aquarium. Approximately 60 to 80# of live rock, no base
rock was used as all the rock was transfered from an existing set-up. The
interior of the two rock mounds is left open to offer caves for hiding
areas.
CHEMISTRY: Temperature is
held to a 78 to 80 degree range. Ammonia, Nitrite, &
Nitrate, all hold as low as the
scale allows, Salt is approximately 1.025, Calcium is
in the 350 to 400 range.
PH holds at 8.2 -- all water runs through a DI system before
being added to the aquarium.
