Proliferation of Apitasta (tank failing what do ....)

My reef aquarium is doing well with the exception of proliferation of Apitasta. Some rocks don't have any at all--others are so covered that the rock itself is barely visible.

The Red devil treatment does work-for a time. When those targeted die off, it seems that there are smaller ones waiting for the opportunity to grow--and they do. I sense that they are sapping the nutrients away from the corals and I don't have two hours a week to fight these things.

Should I give up and let them be? I have thought about removing the worst rocks and chemically treating them, but I'm not sure how to do this or if it will work. Any suggestions?

This is not good.

It's a sure sign the conditions of the tank have been slipping- mainly water, lighting and the use of kalkwasser.

You have to be sure your lamps are being replaced regularly and you use ro/di water for all your water changes and makeup water.

This is the first step of the tank basically failing; the next thing to expect is hair algae.

My approach is "Simplified" but firm You must follow changing the lamps every 6 months doing water changes with purified water and using kalkwasser. Failure to do any of those will have the tank end up in this un enviable position.

To save your tank you must make the following changes
