Can you overdose lime water (kalkwasser)?

I recently invested in the reef keeping manual. I can say it is full of info that in the past was hard to get. My question is on lime water. I am planning to add lime water to my reef.

I bought a 1 lb. bag of Mrs. Wages pickling lime , is it the same as Ball or Kerr ?

Yes its the same... calcium hydroxide

they tell me that it is the same , but i need to hear it from you. Can you overdose lime water ?

Well, I suppose you could overdose by adding too much water e.g.

If your tank was 1/2 empty and you filled it with limewater... yes you would overdose it.

But if you mean can you overdose by simply adding too strong of a mixture?

No, I don't think so. Only so much calcium will dissolve in the water at one time ... the rest is waste.

Just follow my guidelines in the book and you wont have any problems.
