We have two tiled open-air ponds in the Caribbean, which we would like to set up with reef marine life.

We can circulate salt water from the ocean. Depth is 8" and 12", and area aprox. 8 x10ft. Is this a realistic idea?

What do we need to consider and what are the pitfalls?

Im not terribly familiar with outdoor aqua culture.

The only outstanding problem I see is the depth of your water. I would think 8 to 12 inches to be much to shallow primarily with lighting from the (sun?) most likely you would not get enough water buffer to filter the light.

I would guess a depth of around 24" to be more suitable. Another good suggestion would be to do online research regarding your particular situation.

Im sure I haven't been much help regarding your problem but if I can answer any other questions regarding my book I'd be happy to do what I can.
