Plumbing question.

Robert, Having read your book, I have a plumbing question. On your 200 gal, you said you use 3 11/2 inch pipes for the overflow. Do each one of those pipe separately to the sump, or do the three overflows join into a common pipe to get to the sump? If so, how big is it?

1 1/2 inch PVC?

Yes, there are 3 overflows which connect into one, and then drain into the sump. All the pipe is 1 1/2 " diameter

Also, in regard to a denitrification column, I assume that the taller it is ,the better. Any limits? Also, do you think a column placed

Horizontally would work: even placed diagonally would give one greater length to use. The reason I ask is that I’d be putting it in the stand beneath the tank.

No limits really as far as height goes, I've found the most practical is 30 - 36 "

You would have a problem if you placed the cylinder diagonally, as the water would basically trickle with gravity and instead of getting evenly dispersed, it would travel down the PVC itself rather than through the media (crushed coral)

Hope this answers your question

Best Regards
Robert
