Regenerating a mixed bed deionizer - Gary Deutschman - AZN03

Robert I was just re-reading your book and I have a question on your explanation of regenerating a mixed bed deionizer. You said one should separate the resins to do a regen. (page 278).

Is this necessary? I work in a large pulp mill that has a large water purification system for boiler feed water. I took 2 gallons of each resin and built a mixed bed system at home. I am just at the point of doing a regen.

The Operators said I could just soak the mixed bed in caustic, rinse, soak in acid, and rinse well before putting the bed back in service. Will this procedure not work?

Those tips were contributed by my friend Gary Deutschman see the preceding page 275 - 279

Gary is the inventor of AZN03

But Yes, thats essentially the method of regeneration eg soak in caustic (lye mixture) rinse , muriatic acid and rinse.

I've never personally done this although I've head many who have and the claims are accurate.
